A common cause of neck pain is sleeping position and your pillow. It is best to try to keep your spine straight while sleeping. If lying on your back choose a rounded pillow under your neck. If lying on your side try using a pillow that is higher under your neck than your head. This Harvard article has some great advice to help you have a comfortable sleep.
